Tails is a kind-hearted but somewhat shy fox who has an unbelieveably high IQ and a talent for technology. His brain power and skill in inventing are on par with that of the evil Dr. Eggman. He's a kind of cheerful kid, in his own quiet way, and very mature for his age. He likes to tinker in peace and quiet or spend time with his friends rather than go adventuring. He's a thinker and strategist and not much of a doer.
When it comes to a conflict, he has the determination to see it through, but is still timid and unsure while in the midst regardless of how many he goes through because he lacks confidence. He dislikes conflict of any kind and seeks to avoid it wherever he can. Even now that he's become less reliant on Sonic, there is a level of uncertainty that is easily noticeable in situations where his ideas clash with others and he'll lose whatever courage he had just then and step down. He doesn't anger easily, but can become exasperated easily when others fail to understand him, or tune him out.
More than capable of living on his own, Tails spends most of his time in his workshop making things, or just hanging around. While he does enjoy fun with friends that can often mean just being with them and not actually doing things with them. Despite his maturity, he's still a kid and is very afraid of monsters as well as thunder and lightning. He also fails to see the point in Amy's relentless pursuit of Sonic.
